Lava meets Haute Couture - Tenerife enVogue

Escada, Prada, Versace, Mulberry, Chloé...Vogue China brought high-class fashion to the Canary Islands.

During various shooting days we provided our production service and equipment for the famous fashion photographer Boo George, who is incredibly talented and successful all over the world, well known fashion stylist Victoria Young and New York fashion model Estonian born Katlin Aas.

Yes that´s right an Estonian girl modelling for the Chinese Vogue. It´s quite usual that a northern European looking model appears in Asian fashion magazines. Katlin, with her pale skin, dark hair and petit body was just perfect for that.

After an intense location recce on their arrival day, stylists and photographer went through the outfits, imported last minute from nowhere less than Los Angeles. Fine fabrics and gentle colours providing a stunning contrast to all kind of dramatic red-brown and black lava flows and white sandy desert landscape within the Teide National Park and to a rustic Landrover Defender from 1960.

Contrary to my expectations of fancied fashion characters, Boo and all the crew were very relaxed and "down to earth" people. Fashion model Katlin proofed made that perfectly clear by laughing out loud while staggering in fifteen centimetre heels a few hundred meters through lava sand to perfect location spot.

After long shooting days, up to using the last rays of sun we reunited in the cosy rural boutique hotel. We had nice and interesting conversations with the whole team telling lots of anecdotes about the fashion world over a three-course meal. I don´t know if it was because of the warm atmosphere of the rustic country house hotel or the thin air on the mountains but I didn´t feel like sitting with sophisticated jetsetters but more like being with colleagues or even friends and having a great time.

After an intense photo shoot we left a happy and confident crew at the airport with a certainty that the pictures will delight Chinese Vogue addicts.
